Certified Porcelain Testing

Find testing from the Porcelain Tile Certification Agency (PTCA) to certify porcelain tile.

ANSI A137.1 defines porcelain tile as an impervious tile with a water absorption of 0.5% or less, as measured by the ASTM C373 test method. However, there are many instances in which entities advertise and sell tile not meeting this standard as porcelain tile.

Marketplace confusion, installation problems and even liability concerns can result when entities misrepresent non-porcelain tile in the marketplace.

Microbiological Testing

Find testing for microbiological properties of surface materials with and without antimicrobial coatings.

Our lab has a long history of microbiological testing and research on ceramic tiles, as well as other floor and wall coverings. We also offer groundbreaking research on photocatalytic antimicrobial surfaces and the antimicrobial effects of various metal oxides in glazes.

Moreover, the lab has added antiviral testing to our list of services. We can use antiviral testing to determine the survival rates/duration of viruses on different surface materials and the efficacy of common household cleaners in disinfecting those surfaces.
